Did you know…….?

Leander has a 50-year supply of water?  Yes, we do.  Back in 2011, we secured 24,000 acre feet of water in Lake Travis; a sustainable supply for the next 50 years!

Your city council at the time also purchased our state-of-the-art Sandy Creek water treatment plant from the LCRA thus creating a regional water and wastewater system.  Additionally, we created a partnership with Cedar Park and Round Rock (the “Brushy Creek Regional Water Authority,” “BCRUA”) to ensure that we had a system, as well as a backup system.

Your city Council set an infrastructure plan in action and by 2012, your city was 3 years ahead with infrastructure (Capital Improvement Projects).  This was all done without raising taxes.

At present, your city has gone from 3 years ahead (infrastructure wise) to 2 years behind.  This must change.  This will be part of the 2050 plan under our “Head Start” program.

Currently your city is under “Stage Four” water restrictions.  This is partly due to unanticipated weather events.  It is estimate that around 2015, your city council at the time decided to defer maintenance on our state-of-the-art system.  Your current 2021 city council inherited this near catastrophic issue and is dealing with it in a proper manner.  Lack of maintenance and negligence and redundancy is what the 2015 failed to apply.  Hindsight is 20/20, but your 2024 Leander City Council will make sure that we check, check and re-check all procedures to ensure that there will be no more maintenance issues with our water system.  Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance.
